But it really is tablets & smartphones that are stealing most of the web traffic
If you want a litmus test that the desks are in decline due to tablets and smartphones, it is then clearly indicated in its decline in the dominance of the traffic Internet. As 5IDegrees.mobi has shown in his picture of the week, only in the last 20 months, tablet and smartphone devices have gradually chipped away at the web part of desktop and non-mobile devices. But the exception proves the rule and the month past [September 2013], desktop web traffic took a slight rebound, apparently at the expense of traffic from web phone smartphone and feature. 51Degrees speculates that this could rooted in growth in the product 'ultramobile' category.
Until that slight traffic signal - the small rise of desktop web traffic showing an increase of 0.13 percent in September 2013, part of desks of traffic was in the low 70 cents per Internet.
That compares with smartphones with around 18 percent. But while the desktop stole traffic from smartphones, tablet web traffic percentage increased at an average rate of 0.26 percent.
If this trend continues over the next 6 months, says 51Degress.mobi, tablets could be approaching a fee of 10 percent of the total web traffic.
This is surprising as the latest figures produced by analysts, Gartner, predicting shipments worldwide tablet grow 53.4 per cent in 2013, with shipments reaching 184 million units.
Meanwhile, Gartner said PC shipments are declining - predicted down 11.2 percent in shipments by 2012.
It is lower than the previous forecast of Gartner in April of 2013 when it said that it expected PCs to decline 7.3 per cent in 2013.
Tablets seem to be the type of unique device affected by the increase in desktop in the last 20 months.
Will we see an increase in quota of web in early 2014, with an end-of-year increase in sales of predicted tablet, asks 51Degrees?
Anyway, what these mysterious 'ultramobiles' that are helping the desktop to increase your web traffic share a little?
The answer seems to be portable lightweight and portable capable of performing a full desktop OS - like Surface Pro Microsoft tablet, for example.
Thus, in effect, tablets are taking a part of web traffic at both ends of the scale.
